No Spend Month is a chance to take a break from buying. It’s like boot camp for your budget, but it’s not all about the money.
What’s amazing is how much free time you discover when you stop looking for the next thing to buy that might improve your home, appearance, and productivity. I’m looking forward to being mindful of what we spend our money on and avoiding bringing unneeded things into our home. I’m excited to have the time to appreciate experiences rather than stuff. I’m looking forward to saving money on what I might normally spend on dining out and impulse buys, but what I’ll really gain is a renewed thankfulness for what I have. It will take creativity and thought when I can’t run out to the store to buy something.
It will be difficult at times to avoid spending but hopefully I can resist temptations. It is not about depriving me or my family of a joyful life but living out of the abundance of what we have. It’s about slowing down and living in the simplicity of a simple day.
I’m up for
the challenge to enjoy my free time, my family and what we have.
I’m looking forward to Doing instead of Buying in July. This is not going to be easy, but it will be worth doing.
