Make sure to set a time and place where you can be comfortable. You can start with 5 minutes and work your way up slowly 30 minutes. Find a comfortable place to sit that is quite and free from distractions.
- Focus on your breathing.
- Notice what you’re sensing such as the sights, sounds, and smells. Be in the present moment.
- Recognize that your thoughts and emotions are fleeting and do not define who you are. Without judging them—without believing, that there’s a “right” or “wrong” way to think or feel.
- Focus on your body’s physical sensations, from the water hitting your skin in the shower to the way your body rests in your chair.
