No Spend July Day 13: Brainstorming Meals

If you’re eating from the pantry it may be a good time to Brainstorming Meal idea. It might be getting harder to come up with things off the top of your head since we are almost halfway through the month. Make sure you use up your fresh/perishable foods before they go bad. A big pot of soup might be in order or chop up leftover raw veggies for salad. Use up condiments that linger in the fridge. Many salad dressing work well as a marinade or could be used as a sauce. You may need to take an inventory of what you have in order to put a meal plan together. Make sure to use any garden produce that’s ready to harvest. Make a list of your family’s favorite meals or your favorite recipes. You may be able to come up with substitutions if you don’t have all the needed ingredients. There are many recipe website that allow you to add a list of ingredients you have and will give you recipes for them.

What can you make with what you own?

We had a get-together this weekend at our house. We opened up an extra 3 lbs. package of hotdogs that I need to use this week. They were previously frozen and don’t want to refreeze them. I have salad dressing that needs used up so I'm going to marinate chicken breast to use it up. I have kohlrabi , green peppers, cucumbers, and zucchini from the garden. I have a watermelon that I purchased.

On the Menu:

Corn Dog Casserole with a Salad

Cheesy Bacon Ultimate Dogs, Macaroni and Cheese, and Green Beans

Balsamic Vinaigrette Chicken Breasts, Baked Potatoes, and Peas

Chicken & Zucchini Pasta

Zucchini Bread
