January 2013 Reading List

I had a huge stack of books that I borrowed from the library in November and December most of them Christmas Themed that I wanted to read before I started my reading goal for the year. In January that stack of books is what I read and most of next month’s will be also.

I have found that I really like to listen to audio books because I can listen to them on my computer as I am working on the computer, working in my kitchen, and in the car as I am driving. I can listen to most audio books in a day or two depending on how long they are and how long I am involved in the activities where I am near the audio player.

In January I Read:

A Dog Named Christmas by Greg Kincaid (audio book)

The Bridge by Karen Kingsbury (audio book)

'Tis the Season by Lorna Landvik (audio book)

A Prairie Christmas Collection
Take Me Home by Tracey V. Bateman
One Wintry Night by Pamela Griffin
Image of Love by JoAnn A. Grote
The Christmas Necklace by Maryn Langer
A Christmas Gift of Love by Darlene Mindrup
God Jul by Tracie Peterson
Circle of Blessings by Deborah Raney
Christmas Cake by Janet Spaeth
Colder Than Ice by Jill Stengl

A Lancaster County Christmas by Suzanne Woods Fisher

Prayers of a Stranger: A Christmas Journey by Davis Bunn

A Wreath of Snow by Liz Curtis Higgs

My 2013 Reading Goals

My reading goal for this year includes declutter my shelves, and not spending any money on books to complete my reading goal. To start it off at the end of 2012 I organized my books and decluttered the ones that I have already read or decided I wasn’t interested in reading anymore. I had a whole banana box full of books that I donated to the library.

Since I have lots of books on my bookshelves that I have not read I have decided to make it my goal this year to see how many I can read off of my shelves and then donate them. I have one shelf that I organized for this year that I am going to read from. Most of the books on the shelf I had bought this past year at the thrift stores and yard sales. I estimate I have spent $20-$30 to get all the books on the shelf. Most of the Love Inspired Series I got from my oldest daughter Brittany for free since she bought them at a yard sale herself several years ago for about $10 from a neighbor.

The shelf that I am going to read from in 2013 is the 4th shelf down. I am going to work on reading the first and second stack of book but may not get to the third stack. I am going to read through each Author's complete series of books so that will be alot of books that are not on my shelf that I plan to borrow for the library to complete each series.

I hope to not have to buy any books to reach this goal but as the year progresses I may pick up books to read for next year. As I finish reading each book from my shelf I will donate them and keep track of how many of them I no longer own.

The Authors I am planning to read this year are Beverly Lewis, Kathleen Fuller, Lori Wick, Karen Kingsbury, Nicholas Sparks, Janette Oke, and Debbie Macomber. I also plan to read the books I own from the Romancing America Series and Love Inspired Series but not the complete series of books published, I may read them next year.
I have read several of each author’s books or series before so I will not read the ones I have already read. To help me keep track of what books I need to read I have made a complete book list in word for each author and noted the ones that I own and the ones I had previously read. I currently have my lists stored in my seasonal notebook for winter but am going to move it to the current season's notebook as they come.
