Lent: #16 of 40 Days of Projects

I cleaned up the basement a bit. I took the chalkboard puppet theater and highchair to the barn. I have them up for sale but if they don't sell soon they will be donated.

Lent: #15 of 40 Days of Projects

My daughter Nastasja took the hardware off of this desk to paint it for her bedroom when she was about 15 yrs. old. Well that was 12 yrs. ago and the harware never got put back on and has since been misplaced. We had loped cording in the holes to make it usable for many years.

I wanted to replace the hardware and had been looking in the thrift stores to find something that would work for a couple months. I finally found 5 handles for $5 at the New Uses store a couple days ago.

I undid the cording and added the handles. I did have one leftover and will save it in my parts box to use for another project. I would like to repaint the desk at some point but that won't be happening until my daughter moves into her own place. It looks good.

Lent: #14 of 40 Days of Projects

I bought this little bag at the thrift store to use for washing lingerie.  After getting it home I realized it had a hole in the side. I sewed it up and it's ready to use.

I bought this swimsuit thrifting a couple years ago and really like the colors and fit. The hook on the back broke last year but I couldn't find the part to fix it and I was worried about taking it apart. Well I decide it was time to fix it or toss it. I decide to fit it since I like it so much and it's hard to find swimsuits that I like.

I went to the thrift store and bought a bikini top that had parts that I could reuse. I cut the parts off it. I needed 1 part but I'm saving the others in my parts box in casue I need another later.

I used a seem riper to take the seam apart, added the new part, and sewed it up. I hope my sewing hold up for a couple more years of use.

Lent: #13 of 40 Days of Projects

I went through my Seasonal Notebooks. I sorted out papers that I don't need any longer, most were Christmas and Easter. I discard and add papers to each month while working in the current months section and then on the last Thursdays of the month I go through the current month again. I do sometime keep papers that I think I'll use and it doesn't happen for whatever reason. And that is why I go through my complete Notebook collection once a year to really do a deeper purge cause when we're not currently in that season I'm less likely to keep unneeded papers. This keeps my Notebooks fresh, up to-date, and usable without too many papers that don't get used.

I had a good time doing a bit of papercrafting in them too. I keep a green folder in the back of each of my Notebooks to hold papers that I haven't hole punched and added to a section in my Notebooks yet. Their aren't many but it happens sometimes. Sometimes I keep things like a papercraft project that I haven't done yet in the green folder too. I decided to decorated the green folders in the back of each of my Seasonal Notebooks.

Lent: #12 of 40 Days of Projects

My husband and I have been trying to lose a bit of weight. On March 1st we got rid of all the unhealthy snacks and replaced them with nuts, cheese, lunch meat, yogurt, fruit, and veggies. For the next step I collected On-the-Go Meal idea for us and then I spent some time picking recipes from a Whole30 cookbook.

I made this recipe for dinner and we both liked it a lot. I did over cook the chicken a bit so the garlic burned. We had leftover pasta with it since we're not doing any special diet. Rosemary-Garlic Chicken with Bacon-Wrapped Cabbage from the Whole30 Fast and Easy Cookbook.

I made this recipe Chicken and Mushroom Soup from the Whole30 Fast and Easy Cookbook too.

It hasn't been too bad with meals. The cravings for all the unhealthy snacks is hard. We're trying to make healthier substitutes for snacks since we trashed the unhealthier ones on March 1st. I spent a bit of time this morning on Pinterest creating a On the Go Meals board to use for healthy snack ideas and lunches. I think part of our problem isn't that we don't know what we should eat but the presentation of making it look good or better than the junky snacks we're used to eating. We have to make it more convenient to grab and go the healthy.

ME Pocket Cards: Part 2

It's been a bit over a year since I shared my original post ME Pocket Cards: Part 1 about making pocket cards to use in my mini books or mixed media art journals. I spent an evening watch Netflix and creating 14 pocket cards in my little office. I still have plenty of images to recycle from an old Mary Engelbreit page a day calendar so I'll be making more to share.

Lent: #11 of 40 Days of Projects

I'm having so much fun spray painting the wreaths that I decided to do a 4th one. This one was up near the peak of the shed and I needed my husbands help to get it down. I'll give it a couple coats of burgundy red spray paint too. I have it sitting in the basement waiting it's turn.

This was the shed last May with the wreath hanging near the peak.

The wreath freshly painted back on the shed.

Lent: #10 of 40 Days of Projects

I went to a craft class at the local library and they told us how to use their newest online resource Creativebug. They gave us a virtual tour of the Creativebug website where you can take on-line craft classes for free with your library card. We created tissue paper pompoms based on one of the tutorial videos. We each picked two colors to use for our pompoms, mine is pink and red. This was a very fun class. I'm going to save it to use for my granddaughters birthday and maybe make a few more.

Lent: #9 of 40 Days of Projects

I went to a free class at the library called Cupcake Fun with my daughter Nastasja and daughter-in-law Sarah. It was a beginners, introduction to cupcake decorating class were we learned some basic techniques and created four fun cupcakes. We mixed our icing colors, loaded icing bags with a tip before doing each cupcake. They gave us a box to take them home too. It was nice fun evening and the cupcakes tasted great.
