Home Spa Day

I got out my beauty supplies and organized them a little for my home Spa day. The bath bag I put together today with supplies that I already had. The Aveeno therapy my daughter gave me since she hadn't used much of it. I keep everything stored on a short bookshelf in my closet.

 1. Hair basket. 2. Facial bag. 3. Bath bag. 4. Makeup case. 5. Nail bag.

Preparing for my facial.

The supplies I used was an apricot scrub and eczema therapy lotion. I plucked stay facial hairs too.

I took a nice warm shower and used a body polish. I shaved my legs since they hadn't been done since fall. LOL

I gave myself a manicure and a pedicure.

I did a hand massage with a hand butter.

I did my makeup. I used blush, eye shadow, eye liner, and mascara.

I put on a nice outfit, necklace, and perfume before my husband and I went out for dinner.

My Skin Care Routine

I have never used skin care product regularly. I am a soap, water, and rag kind of girl. I have occasionally used products for the fun of it. I figure that at 42 yrs. it’s time to take better care of my skin.

My Bag:

I store my skin care items in this bag. I bought it at a Thrift Store for $1.00 a couple years ago but it sat empty until I filled it with my new products.

Inside My Bag:

I store everything I need in my bag including a note of when to use each product.

My Products:

Headband, elastic hair band, cleansing cream, cleansing wipes, apricot scrub, clay mask, and a 12X magnification mirror. I bought my products at Wal-Mart and the 12X magnification mirror at Big Lots.

My Skin Care Routine Includes:

I wash my face with soap and water when I shower. I use the cleansing cream everyday and the cleansing wipes to remove makeup. I use the apricot scrub and clay mask once per week alternating between them. My Pamper day is Wednesday so I most often do the extra stuff on that day.

Organizing My Nail Polish

I have 11 bottles of nail polish. I like to have options but don't want to over purchase and have too many bottles. I keep them all in this plastic container and don't buy more unless one goes bad or I decide I don't want a color anymore. The container helps me to limit how many I have the space to store.

I decide to organize my nail polish by using index cards. I lined them up based on what month I use each color the most. I added a small coat of polish, wrote the brand name, and the color name on each index cards.

 My January - June Colors:

The first card is most of my pinks or light colors that I tend to use January-June. The second card is more reds or dark colors that I tend to wear July-December. I did the cards in order of what I would wear each month and as you can see I am 1 polish short of having one for each month. I need to buy a polish for August. I like to wear the same polish color for a month. I made sure the polishes I picked would look good with most of my clothes.

My July - December Colors:

I plan to take the cards when I'm getting new polish. This will help to know what I already own and what color I may need. This was a simple project and took about 30 minutes because I wanted to make sure it was neat.

Painting My Nails

I like to do my own nails because it saves money, gives me something fun to do, and is relaxing.

Before I polish my nails I wash my hands, remove any old nail color, and then wash my hands again. This way my hands are clean and I have removed any oil from my nails. When I’m applying my nail polish I don't pile it on too thick. I apply thin layers of polish and spread them out. That way it doesn't cake or smudge.

I first apply a base coat and then a very thin first coat of polish. I apply polish in three narrow, even strokes, one down the middle and one down each side. I make sure the first coat is completely dry before doing the second one. If I don't, the second coat takes forever to dry and tends to smudge. I also take a long break between the second and top coats. Once my manicure is on, I seal it with a topcoat.

I make sure to use a polish that’s fresh and toss any old polish. If the polish consistency isn’t thin and easy to spread on my nail or is all goopy, I stop and trash the bottle.

It might take a little while to develop a steady hand and practice does make perfect. When I'm painting my right hand I lay it on the table, and do it extra-slowly.
