Spring Cleaning: Kitchen/Dining Room Part 2

A couple days later I decide to sort through and purge some of my China since I also had several boxes in the basement. I have several incomplete sets of china. I decide to keep the two largest sets and donate the rest. I now have a set that serves 10 and the other set serves 8. I had fun setting the table every other place setting to make sure the two I chose would look good together. It took two loads in the dishwasher to get them all washed.

After I decided on the dishes to keep I moved the dishes that I wasn't keep into boxes and put the new dishes I bought this past weekend at a rummage sale for $10.00 into the China Cabinet.

Clutter Busting Challenge March 2014 Part 1

I started in May purging 7 items per day for the month. I have challenged myself since then to purge 100-200 items per month. The first couple months I was closer to 200 items but most months I have done 100 items. I have been working on it a couple hours per week instead of every day. My current project which is 40 Bags in 40 Days started March 5th. I'm back to working on purging everyday again. I’m cleaning, organizing, and purging my house during this season of Lent.

40 Bags in 40 Days: Days 1-7

I have a laundry hamper in my basement were I store donations. On Thursday I put them in my car to drop off on Friday when I run my Errands. During 40 Bags I am putting them directly in my car since I know it will be a lot of stuff. I dropped off a weeks worth of donations last night and my truck and back seat were full.

I am using plastic grocery bags and trash bags for my donations and dropping then off at a local Charity each week. I have had very little trash so far and it went into my kitchen trash can and was later taken to my larger outside cans.

This week I worked on my Kitchen, Pete’s Room, and the Basement:

Painting My Nails

I like to do my own nails because it saves money, gives me something fun to do, and is relaxing.

Before I polish my nails I wash my hands, remove any old nail color, and then wash my hands again. This way my hands are clean and I have removed any oil from my nails. When I’m applying my nail polish I don't pile it on too thick. I apply thin layers of polish and spread them out. That way it doesn't cake or smudge.

I first apply a base coat and then a very thin first coat of polish. I apply polish in three narrow, even strokes, one down the middle and one down each side. I make sure the first coat is completely dry before doing the second one. If I don't, the second coat takes forever to dry and tends to smudge. I also take a long break between the second and top coats. Once my manicure is on, I seal it with a topcoat.

I make sure to use a polish that’s fresh and toss any old polish. If the polish consistency isn’t thin and easy to spread on my nail or is all goopy, I stop and trash the bottle.

It might take a little while to develop a steady hand and practice does make perfect. When I'm painting my right hand I lay it on the table, and do it extra-slowly.
