KonMari Week 24: Sentimental Part 1

I'm working on the sentimental category of Letters, Cards, School Mementos, and other Memories items besides photos. This area was in pretty good shape. I straighten things up and took pictures but didn't have anything to discard. Everything from this category is stored in the basement.

Our 4 young adult children smaller memory totes. The crate of school/homeschool memories for the kids. They each have am accordion folder and a notebook in the crate.

My husband and I, smaller memory totes.

My small memory box. I'll probably need a new box this coming year. I don't think one small box is too bad for being 44 yrs. It has my childhood paper stuff in it too.

I keep this box for my memory keeping in my closet. I thin it out when it gets full and move stuff into the plastic tote in the basement. My husband has one too. The kids had shoe boxes in their bedrooms while growing up to collect their things.

KonMari Week 23: Basement

I have finished the basement with the Holiday category over and moving into sentimental next week. I have spent the last 2 weeks in the basement moving things around and tidying up. The basement stores the overflow to other categories plus Holiday. I’ve already shared all the completed categories during the challenge. I’ve dealt with a good portion of sentimental under categories like paper and homeschool. I do have sentimental left to finish but that won’t change the basement. I am so happy to have the basement finished. The basement was the main reason that I had started my declutter journey 6 years ago.

The home repair supplies will eventually go to the shed once we finish painting and redoing woodwork. We're using the shed this winter to store camper renovation supplies.

KonMari Week 22: Seasonal/Holiday Part 5

I have a before picture of my 3 Christmas totes. I sorted my Christmas decorations and decorated the house this week. I trashed some extra packaging and donated 10 items. I have my grandbabies gifts under the tree.

KonMari Week 22: Seasonal/Holiday Part 4

My Valentine's stuff is stored in a small tote. I have a few homemade decorations and gift packaging. Otherwise, I just pull together anything I have in Valentine colors to decorate my table.

Christmas Reading

I'm preparing for Christmas by tackling Books.

My bookshelves haven't changed too much since I organized them in July. I did buy about 8 used books at a rummage sale this Summer. I've donated 15-20 books this year. I've straighten them up and moved a few around.

I have a stack of Christmas themed books to read over the next month. What I don't read, I can read next year. I haven't bought any for a couple years. What I normally do is find Christmas themed books at the thrift stores and save them back to read in December/January.

The book I'm currently reading has 4 stories and I've read 2 stories so far.

KonMari Week 22: Seasonal/Holiday Part 3

I sorted and organized my summer decor. I didn't purge anything. I’ve minimized them a lot over the last couple years. The kitchen is the only room I decorate now that my kids are grown. It’s so much simpler that it used to be. I have 1 box for everything. I change a few things out each month of June, July, and August. I use the wreath that I decorated all 3 months but I changed out the table and kitchen counter decor.

The wreath stays out all 3 months. I decorated it several years ago.

Christmas Clothing

I'm preparing for Christmas by tackling my Clothing.

I tidied up my closet since I did have a few things out of place. It took 2 minutes. My husband hung the mirror I got at the Antique store a month ago and moved my bird picture over.

I put my Christmas pin on my coat and sewed 2 buttons on. I need a new hat, the one I have doesn’t match as well since it was for my old coat.

I picked my event outfit for the season. If it’s too cold for leggings, I can wear dress pants with my sweater dress. I paid $5 at a thrift store for the sweater dress in September since I didn’t have any winter dresses. I got the handmade necklace at the County Living Fair in October.
