My Little Craft Office

We finished painting my little office and redoing the floor two weeks ago. It took a couple hours to move everything back into the room. I spent a week organizing, washing all the storage containers, and doing a final purge once I got everything moved back. I let things rest a week to see if anything else needed done. I'm comfortable that my office is finished. I’m really happy that the Oops paint that we used looks good with the décor that I already had. My office is small ab...out the size of a walk-in-closet. I’m blessed to have my own pretty space to do my craft projects and plan my homemaking chores.

I still have a stack of magazines to go through but I'll always have a stack. I’m really proud of the fact that I have purged so much out of my little office. I purged enough that I didn’t put the shelf back over the desk window and had my husband remove a shelf from one of the bookcases. I no longer have crafting stuff stored in the basement. I do have my quilting supplies in the guest room closet but it’s organized and purged too.

I’m thankful for the month long work my husband put into helping me redo my office. I had a vision of what I wanted to see when I looked into my little office and we were able to create it. I wanted a relaxing look that didn’t look as busy. Not putting up the shelf over the window was a big step to making that possible. I wanted to get rid of almost all of the craft stuff for children and make it my own now that our 4 children are grown.

Clutter Busting Challenge August 2015 Part 1

I've been purging my little office and my husband has been purging his shed. We've purged 111 items so far this month. Its time to make the trip into town to drop off our donations.

The Shed

My husband finished the shed. There is so much less stuff than we had at the end of last Summer. We have spent lots of time purging and organizing this Summer. We purge and organize every summer and it looked great before winter. We spent a few years collecting too much stuff and have spent the last couple years greatly reducing the amount of stuff. Having less to deal with makes it so much easier.

Our Shed:

Before:

The inside of our shed in April when we started chipping away at the clutter. Our shed has no heat so my husband doesn't like to spend much time in it once its cold. He tends to dump stuff into the shed, rummage though things, and not put things back. The shed gets really messy.

After:

We donated a good bit of stuff and organized the rest. We are happy to have it finished before it gets cold.

Clearing Out the Exercise Room

My project was to clear out the soon to be exercise room. We have been using it to store supplies while doing the bathroom and my little office. Those rooms are finished and now we are wanting to get the exercise room done before it gets cold out. It will be nice to use in the winter when we can't get outside as often. I packed everything up and took it to the shed. We have already puttied and sanded the holes. Its time to paint and redo the floors. Its taking us an average of 6 weeks per room so hopefully we will finish this room by the end of September.

After ready to go.

My Little Office Redo

My little office is finished and we only spent about $100 to do it. We used the white chocolate paint that we'd been using in the rest of the house. I bought the green Oops paint for $8 to do the shelves and the paneled wall. The new shade for my light feels like a spurge at $19, although I did only have 2 choices that would fit. It had to be replaced since we broke the old shade. I bought wood brackets for the upper shelves for $20. My office walls had several layer to remove that included contact paper, paint, wallpaper, and glue. The floors weren't as hard to do as we imagined but was a bit of work sanding and do 3 layers of Shellac. We'll do the baseboard, door, and trim when I do the rest of the house. I still need to find the stain that match's.

A Day with the Grandkids

We spent a very fun day with the Grandkids. We went to Chick-fil-A for lunch and played in the play-place. We visited 2 parks before heading to McDonald's for ice cream to close the day. We love them so much.

My Birds

My first purchase besides food and gas since the beginning of the no spend month. My new lavender parakeets name is Violet. I bought a friend for my yellow parakeet Buttercup today. My blue parakeet Bluebell died 2 weeks ago. I got buttercup a year ago when my other blue parakeet Blueberry died.
