Garden Whimsy Tablescape

For as the earth brings forth its sprouts, and as a garden causes the things sown in it to spring up, so the Lord GOD will cause righteousness and praise to spring up before all the nations. Isaiah 61:11

I bought the Avon Bird Egg and Green Depression Glasses this weekend and decided to use them in my tablescape the other things I used I already had. The flowers I picked from my garden this morning. The napkin rings are fake flowers with pipe cleaners inserted in the end then wrapped around the napkin. For dinner I am serving my family Pork Loin Chops, Zucchini Stuffing Casserole, and Corn. We are having Banana Cream Trifle for dessert.

My Herb Garden

"The heavens declare the glory of God; the skies proclaim the work of His hands." Psalm 19:1

I have 3 Herb Garden areas. I have been collecting herb plants for the last 4 years but mostly the last 2. I only like to buy Perennial Herbs but I do have Sweet Basil because my daughter Nastasja wanted to make pesto. I have an Herb Pot because I planted onions in the empy space in my 3rd herb garden area. I had no room for the herbs I bought at the Farmer's Market 2 weekends ago so I make a temporary home for them in a pot so that I can plant them later this fall.

I used paint sticks to make markers for my herbs because I want to make sure to remember what they all are. I have most of them memorized but I didn't want to forget their location over the winter. I used Acrylic Outdoor Craft Paint from Wal-Mart. The paint color is called Grass Green and I used a paint pen to label them. The white headboard I got for free 2 weeks ago at the Clothes Closet and I am thinking of painting the middle spots. I collected the rocks to write Herb Garden on with the paint pen but may go over it with leftover outdoor house paint as it just doesn't look bold enough to me.

I have had people ask me if we eat the herbs and what they are used for which I find odd since they buy herbs in the store and don't question it. I do not use any chemicals in my gardens or yard so they are perfectly healthy to eat straight from the garden. I have had people taste them as we are walking and looking at them. Some people have been happy to do so others act as if it is strange. I have been using my garden herbs in any recipe calling for herbs all summer and I have also made Peppermint Tea several times. I have dryed some herbs this summer which is the first time I have done that.

Herb Pot- Chamomile, Pineapple Mint, and Chocolate Mint

1 st Herb Area- Thyme, Sage, Peppemint, and Lavender

2nd Herb Area- Thyme, Dill, Chives, Greek Oregano, Sweet Marjoram, and Sweet Basil

3rd Herb Area- Apple Mint, Rosemary, and Plain Italian Parsley

Thank you for visiting my Herb Garden and I hope you enjoyed the tour.
